Meet Our Interns

Taryn Kocher, from Wickliffe, OH, is a senior at the University of Mount Union working towards completing a degree in Finance and a minor in Entrepreneurship. Upon her graduation this coming May, Taryn hopes to land a job in the financial planning field while pursuing her Certified Financial Planner® designation. Outside of class, Taryn is involved with several activities on campus including Relay for Life, Alpha Chi Omega sorority and intramural sports. She is also an advocate for domestic violence awareness.  In her spare time, Taryn can be found by Lake Erie or on a hike through the Metroparks.

Jon Frawley, hailing from Springboro, PA, is enrolled in Edinboro University’s CFP® program and will be graduating in May of 2019. After graduation, Jon aims to sit for the Certified Financial Planner® exam and also hopes to travel abroad. At Edinboro, Jon is a supervisor in their intramural and recreational sports department and Vice President of the Personal Financial Planning Club. Jon enjoys spending time with friends and family, biking and rooting for the Indianapolis Colts alongside his Maltese, Teddy.

Audrey Rieman, originally from Avon Lake, OH, is entering her senior year at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY where she is studying Finance. Upon graduation, Audrey hopes to become a financial planner, helping people understand their finances and achieve their future goals. At Canisius, Audrey is a member of their Division I rowing team and Phi Sigma Sigma sorority, sitting on their Finance Board. She has a love for the water, so when Audrey isn’t rowing you can find her sailing on Lake Erie.

Their Summer with NCA

When looking back at their summer internship experience, all three agree their time at NCA has confirmed their future goals. “NCA reassured me that this was the right career for me. The internship gave me experience in all areas of financial planning and gave me the opportunity to interact with coworkers and clients on a professional level,” said Jon. Audrey agreed, mentioning that sitting in client meetings allowed her to, “really experience a true day in the life of a financial planner and how the business works.” Taryn added that “getting hands-on experience and working with a great group of advisors,” was key to her internship experience and allowed her to, “expand my interest and understanding of the financial world.”

The three interns agree they are leaving NCA with a renewed interest in their careers and the inspiration to accomplish their goals.  The firm wishes them much luck and success as they head back for their final year!

For Future Interns

When asked what advice they would share with future NCA interns, they couldn’t speak more highly of the program. Audrey recommends, “making connections with as many people as you can because they all want to see you succeed.” Jon and Taryn agree that an intern in the coming years should, “not be afraid to ask questions or seek help, and don’t stress about what you don’t know.” They advise making a point to talk with the financial planners on staff, as they are always willing to assist young professionals in learning about the financial planning field and encourage their growth.
