As the weather in Cleveland finally begins to show signs of summer, NCA Financial Planners welcomes its newest group of financial planning interns. The 2019 interns will complete a 10-week program starting the first week of June and continuing until the second week of August. During these 10 weeks, NCA’s four interns will have a jam-packed schedule of shadowing financial planners and paraplanners, meeting with industry experts in various areas of financial planning, and learning the different software programs and tools that NCA uses. NCA would like to take a moment to recognize each of the interns and will be following them through their journey this summer in a series of blog posts called “Meet the Interns.”
Mitchell is from Chesterland, Ohio and attends John Carroll University where he will be starting his senior year in the fall. Mitchell is pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance with a concentration in Wealth Management. He is also working on his minor in Leadership Development. Mitchell is part of John Carroll’s Men’s Soccer Team where he plays the defensive position of outside back. Mitchell says he became interested in finance at a young age, enjoying saving his money and choosing wisely on where and when to spend it. During the fall 2018 semester, Mitchell had the opportunity to shadow at NCA Financial Planners where he first learned about NCA’s internship program. Mitchell’s experience with NCA allowed him to observe NCA’s team environment and learn more about the field of financial planning.
Jen has been surrounded by financial planning all of her life as her mom is a Senior Financial Advisor at NCA. This summer, Jen was interested in learning more about what her mom does as well as gaining valuable business experience through NCA’s internship program. Jen is originally from Painesville, Ohio and will be a junior at The University of Akron. Jen is pursuing a Bachelors of Business Administration in Supply Chain Operations Management at The University of Akron. When not in class, Jen plays as an outside for The University of Akron’s Women’s Volleyball Team.
Ashley is originally from Willoughby Hills, Ohio, but now attends college at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania where she will be completing her junior year. Ashley is pursuing a Bachelors of Business Administration in Personal Financial Planning. Ashley is also a member of the Edinboro University’s Women’s Soccer Team. While soccer may be what brought her to Edinboro, it didn’t take long for Edinboro’s CFP Board Registered Finance Program to pique her interest. “I attended many conferences, career days, and speakers which have all confirmed my passion for the industry,” Ashley stated as her reason why she decided on the major. Ashley enjoys the aspects of financial planning where she can help people and bring peace of mind to clients.
Alize is originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania. She attends Edinboro University where she will be a senior in the fall of 2019. Alize first got interested in financial planning from an outreach program that the finance department was conducting with the department of social work at Edinboro. Through this program, Alize became interested in pursuing a Personal Financial Planning minor to accompany her Bachelors of Science in Social Work. Alize is a member of Edinboro’s Honors program and when not attending classes, enjoys spending most of her time outside, preferably near a body of water.
We look forward to watching Mitchell, Jen, Ashley, and Alize grow during their time here at NCA. NCA Financial Planners has always put a focus on education, both through continuing education and real-world experience. We are excited to share over thirty years of experience with the next generation of financial planners. <
